FAQ: TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME

Why a Waluigi book instead of continuing with a webcomic?

There’s a pretty long answer here, but I’ll try to keep it brief. With 200 comics, it’s very possible a webcomic-turned-book would ultimately be better for me financially…but probably not physically. One of the big takeaways for me from Brawl in the Family was that it was actually extremely stressful. The majority of comic updates in BitF had me nervously wondering what people would think of them, to the point where I often lost sleep. Coming up with a bunch of ideas in private and then crammin’ ‘em all into a book to be binge-read all at once seems more my speed right now. I love drawing, but I didn’t love the twice-a-week apprehension that came with a regularly-updated webcomic!

Is there a paperback version?

This book will only be printed in hardcover. It was a tough decision to make, but it’s far simpler to have one type of book, and I decided to go with the more luxurious one.

Tell me more about "Back in the Family!"

Hey, some things have to remain secret! But I will divulge a little bit: the “Back in the Family” comics will not only feature the main cast, but other series that BitF has touched upon as well. While this book isn’t a sequel or reboot of BitF, it wouldn’t hurt to think of this section as a “reunion special” of sorts!

Is there a legal risk in making this book?

Rest assured we’ve looked into this extensively! “TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME” is an unofficial work of parody and is not affiliated with Nintendo.

All of the art contained in this book has been created from scratch by the author himself. The book will stand alone as a creative work, but will not function as a replacement for any game, storylines, game guides or other official products.

Like Brawl in the Family, “TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME” shares company with numerous other gaming-webcomics-turned-into-books, and various merchandise found on sites like Fangamer that pay homage to the games we all know and love while creating unique artistic works.

And believe it or not, a Nintendo of America employee actually was a backer for BitF: The Complete Collection!

Will the book be available for sale after the Kickstarter?

Yes! We will be selling the book at brawlinthefamily.com once it releases. We won’t have a TON of stock in, but there should be enough to last a few months at least.

Is this all an elaborate April Fools gag?

For the last time, no!

Sheesh, pull a prank a half dozen times and suddenly no one trusts you anymore…

I was expecting something cooler than this...

TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
