July Update--A Couple of Alternate Takes

Matthew here with a little update for you guys! Things are progressing smoothly with the Waluigi book--I've gotten about 60 of the comics fully completed, with plenty more as ideas ready to be finalized in digital form. I've also done some of the extra art that will be in the book, namely two (of several) of the "alternate style" bonus Waluigi images. Take a look!

This ugly fellow wasn't too far a cry from my usual style, but he did go through a couple revisions before I felt satisfied. Sort of looks like the early Simpsons character Herman.

Amano's wispy, billowy look was fun to emulate, and I made sure to add all sorts of contrasting patterns to Waluigi to essentially give him only the faintest of resemblance to the purple jerk we all know and love. Of course, drawing a Waluigi that looks frightfully off-model is familiar territory for me...

That's about all for now! The surveys are still a few months away, so sit tight, and I'll keep on drawin'.

The Final Song (Stretch Goal) is Ready: Wa-Elegy!

HI everyone! Hope you're having a delightful summer, and taking Waluigi for a spin in Mario Tennis Aces (if so, you may have been the guy that kept me from a tourney win the other day. WAAAAA).

The fourth song from this Kickstarter campaign is ready. After Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was shown a couple weeks ago, Waluigi took note of a particular absence, and decided--as usual--to sing about it. Get ready for some lovely, nasally complaining! It also led to a Smash-related comic for the book, which appears in both the video and in the form below:

(Keep in mind that Waluigi's views don't necessarily reflect the author's!)

In the meantime, I'll keep on marching forward with making content for the book. The surveys are still several months away, so sit tight. Once the release gets closer, I'll let you guys know when I'll need your fan art and addresses and such.

ONE DAY MORE! All Stretch Goals Hit, New Song!

Here we are in the final day...and here's your $70k song! Waluigi has decided to get dramatic with this heartfelt rendition of an old Broadway classic. Don't miss it! Apparently, Waluigi doesn't hate musicals that feature a stage full of him.

Know what else Waluigi doesn't hate? The crazy amount of support this Kickstarter got in its final hours! We blazed past all of the remaining stretch goals with time to spare, which means the book will be even more jam-packed than before! The Smash 4 cast will get a much-needed makeover, the Back in the Family chapter will be dozens of pages long, and I'll need to cook up one more Waluigi song for everyone at some point. Since I will be devoting all my work time to the book, the song will be much further down the line. But no worries--Waluigi will sing again.

Thanks again for all your support. Now let's race to the finish!

We Came, We Saw, WAA Conquered!

"WAAA HA HA HA HAA! SOON, WALUIGI WILL BE IN LIVING ROOMS ACROSS THE WORLD, CHARMING EVERYONE WITH HIS NEW ADVENTURES AND HIGH ART! WALUIGI LIKES THIS."

That's a wrap, folks! Due partly to the viral (in every sense of the word) nature of Waluigi's singing, the Kickstarter shot through the stratosphere in the last couple days to reach over $90,000!

As with my past Kickstarter projects, I'd like to thank all of you for supporting me to the point where you're willing to fund these crazy ideas I have. And my promise to you is that I will do my all to make sure this book is a high-quality work; detailed and polished from cover to cover, despite the general strangeness of its subject matter. With all Stretch Goals now hit, it should be a fairly thorough tome of all things Waluigi, too!

Timepiece 4, 5 and 6 Cleared! Another Song, More BitF!

As time runs out, Waluigi Time seems to only get stronger, as evidenced by our blazing through the most recent couple of Stretch Goals!

First up, the Back in the Family comics have been given a boost--TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME will now have an extra-large chapter of BitF, featuring a hefty 30 new, blue comics total!

And secondly, while you've already heard the first of the bonus songs in the most recent update, prepare your ears for the next one! I intend to release it when there's...one day more remaining in the Kickstarter. Another day, another destiny.

It's the final hours, folks! Let's see how far we can take this violet villain!
